Todd Pierce

Short Bio

Todd Pierce is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Melbourne, Australia. His musical style is broad, acquired through decades of influence and experimentation, and is informed by a range of styles from indie to folk to blues to jazz to rock. Todd has received heaps of radio play across Australia, from Derby WA to Hobart TAS.

Todd's music is warm and gentle, sometimes antropological, often expressing dark emotional and interpersonal themes through humour, fantasy and decontextualised childhood imagery.

Todd's latest release, titled "L", consolidates doubles down on the sound texture and deep lyrics of his debut album "Money For Beer". Helped out by jazz saxophonist John Zappia, soul singer Mimi Turner, sousaphone player Aaron Richard and classical/folk violinist Ingrid Homburg, Todd has stood on his own shoulders and delivered a simply beautiful album. Fourteen mainly acoustic little tracks, of introspective, funny, bleak and romantic indie folk roots rock pop.

Todd has been kicking around for decades in various Melbourne bands as songwriter, singer, guitarist or bassist. Most lately he was front person for "Angry Bunny Rock" band Recreational Outrage, and bassist with Moses Jones for over 15 years. He has written two musicals, and for credibility spent some time on the board of Australian Musicals Development.
